Course Outline

Diagnosing and managing foot and ankle injuries is a common area of confusion for clinicians.

People don’t often present like the textbooks, there’s often incomplete or conflicting research and it’s all shrouded in the mysteries of ‘lower limb biomechanics’.

This leaves many clinicians having to learn through experience, figuring it out as they go with patients, or seek out the limited opportunities for mentorship.

This course is designed to bridge that gap by bringing together the latest evidence and clinical experience into a clear framework so clinicians can easily navigate diagnosis and management, elevate their exercise rehabilitation and confidently guide patients and athletes back to performance.

This isn't just a bunch of exercises and with rigid sets and reps, which we know fails when clinicians try and put it into practice.

This is about covering the principles of diagnosis and management, demystifying foot and ankle biomechanics and explaining how we implement this into our own clinics, so you'll leave confident navigating real clinical encounters, creating personalised treatment plans and managing the human experience that comes along with foot and ankle pain.

With a focus on eliminating the unnecessary fluff and focusing on what you need in the clinic, expect in-depth demonstrations, case studies, interactive problem-solving tasks, to move and practice all the clinical tests and exercises.

What people have said about Alex's courses

"Alex has done a fantastic job at putting across all the relevant (evidence based) information that a clinician needs when dealing with heel pain.

None of us have all the answers all of the time, but I feel like I have a much better grasp of dealing with this sometimes challenging condition.

I shall be making sure the rest of the team also purchases the course (which is amazing value!). Thanks for putting the it together."

Samantha Shelton

Clinic Owner

"Super informative with lots of useful content, presented in a detailed and practical manner, all very applicable to clinical practice. Looking forward to rewatching and checking out all the resources to unpack it all!"

Information for the day

What to wear

The day is very practical, so please wear loose clothes that are easily to move in, as well as easy access to your feet and lower limbs. We’ll be drawing, practicing on each other and trying out lots of different exercises to expect to get active.

While we’ll spend a lot of the day barefoot, please bring along some sneakers you feel comfortable doing a small amount of running, jumping and hopping in.

What to bring

Please bring along pens, paper and anything else you feel like will help you take notes. You’ll be provided with a folder on the day full of cheatsheets and information you can write on if you prefer.

Food and Drink

Dinner will be provided on the evening of the 14th and lunch and snacks on the 15th. Feel free to bring any specific snacks / drinks you'll want during the day. Prior to the day we'll reach out with a pre-course questionnaire that will include a question about dietaries.

While we'll do our best to accomodate everyone's dietaries, we won't be able to gaurantee any food and drink will be 100% allergen free and those we may not be able to accomodate those with complex dietaries.

Previous Injuries and Exercise Participation

Participating in any of the practical elements of the workshop are at your own risk. If you have any previous or current injuries, you can let us know, or self modify the activities to what you feel comfortable doing. While there is benefit to experiencing things yourself, a lot of benefit comes from guiding others through the process and reflecting on their experience, so you won’t be missing out if you don’t feel comfortable doing certain exercises or movements.

Photos and Videos

You’ll be able to film and take photos throughout the workshop. You’ll just need to be mindful of others and whether they’re comfortable being in your shots.
