Why learn from us?

Alex Murray

Sports and Exercise Podiatrist, Strength and Conditioning Coach

I don't have a special interest in the foot and ankle. My career is the foot and ankle. When one person see’s heel pain, or painful flatfeet maybe once a fortnight, I’m seeing 5-6 a week.

Over my years of experience, I've built a process of how I assess, diagnose, treat, communicate and coach patient from pain back to pain-free and high performance and I want to teach it to you!

This is a no-nonsense, research based approach that takes you from differential diagnosis to a detailed management plan.

You’ll get to draw on my experience managing a wide variety of people, from kids and elderly clients, through to elite athletes and how I adjust my treatment plans based on the person and their goals.

We’ll cut through all the crap and conflicting ideas about biomechanics and gait. Show you when, where and how I implement foot orthoses, footwear, gait retraining.

Any course or piece of information is useless if you don’t know how to use it on real people. You’ll get to hear how I manage people not just their feet, explain conditions to patients and take research and guidelines and turn them into personalised plans.

You'll also get a summary book full of assessment cheat sheets, exercise rehab frameworks and appointment planning guidance, so you can take what you've learned and be able to confidently start using it in practice.

It's not all about patting myself on the back either. You'll see heaps of case studies, the good and the bad, so you get to learn from my mistakes, not just my successes.

Angelo Vehlo

Sports and Exercise Podiatrist

I’m thrilled to have Angelo on board to help me deliver this workshop!

Angelo brings a wealth of experience in managing complex foot and ankle conditions, having worked extensively in private practice and across a range of sports and performance settings, including:

• Perth Demons WAFL League and Reserves Squad

• Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy

• Youth Ballet WA

• GymnasticsWA

For the past three years, Angelo has been selected as the Team Podiatrist for the Gymnastics WA State Team, where he’s managed numerous acute foot and ankle trauma injuries.

He has a particular interest in bone stress injuries and is deeply passionate about return-to-sport protocols and the rehabilitation process for athletes.

What sets Angelo apart is his ability to thrive in complexity. He regularly receives referrals for challenging cases from orthopaedic surgeons, sports physicians, and physiotherapists.

This exposure has shaped his comprehensive understanding of complex foot and ankle presentations, helping patients move from pain to performance with clarity and confidence.

Angelo is a firm believer in the power of precise diagnosis—knowing that the right start sets the foundation for a successful recovery journey.

Just like me, he’s passionate about sharing his knowledge and helping others grow their skills in treating hard-to-manage foot and ankle conditions.

Course Outline

Diagnosing and managing foot and ankle injuries is a common area of confusion for clinicians.

People don’t often present like the textbooks, there’s often incomplete or conflicting research and it’s all shrouded in the mysteries of ‘lower limb biomechanics’.

This leaves many clinicians having to learn through experience, figuring it out as they go with patients, or seek out the limited opportunities for mentorship.

This course is designed to bridge that gap by bringing together the latest evidence and clinical experience into a clear framework so clinicians can easily navigate diagnosis and management, elevate their exercise rehabilitation and confidently guide patients and athletes back to performance.

This isn't just a bunch of exercises and with rigid sets and reps, which we know fails when clinicians try and put it into practice.

This is about covering the principles of diagnosis and management, demystifying foot and ankle biomechanics and explaining how we implement this into our own clinics, so you'll leave confident navigating real clinical encounters, creating personalised treatment plans and managing the human experience that comes along with foot and ankle pain.

With a focus on eliminating the unnecessary fluff and focusing on what you need in the clinic, expect in-depth demonstrations, case studies, interactive problem-solving tasks, to move and practice all the clinical tests and exercises.

Designed to be applied in your clinic

I'm dedicated to making sure you'll be able to use what you've learnt in your practice. That's why I'm doing things a little bit differnetly.

Don't have access to a gym or a lot of equipment?

Excellent foot and ankle rehab doesn’t have to involve a large gym full of equipment. With the right knowledge and a small amount of gear, you can prescribe a comprehensive program for any foot and ankle injury.

That’s why I specifically select locations with limited to no gym equipment. We bring in the small amount we need, so there’s no relying on large specific pieces of equipment, or setups that you don’t always have access to.

It can be really difficult remembering all this new knowledge when the patient is in front of me.

That was me too. That's why I've developed frameworks and cheatsheets that you can easily use in your consults. You can get a sneak peak by downloading one of those below!

It's great to learn new skills. But how do I actually put it into my appointments and bill for my time?

Already included in the course is how I structure my appointments, manage patient expectations, plan reviews, rebook patients and bill for my time.

I'm a business owner, why should I send my staff?

I've talked to people who produce CPD all over the world and the common pain point people suffer is difficulty implementing course content into clinical practice. As Angelo and I are both clinic owners, we both understand this is of particular importance when sending staff on a course, as that's money that could be invested in another part of the business.

That's why this course is designed to teach not just the theoretical and practical knowledge of managing foot and ankle conditions, but draws on our experience implementing this into our own clinical practices.

Angelo and I have also built different businesses with different admin processes, appointment times and patient populations. So your staff members will get the benefit of different opinions of how the same knowledge can be implemented in different ways. Making sure we're not just teaching a single cookie cutter approach that doesn't match with your clinic process.

I can't make the currently announced course dates!

That's a bummer! Would've loved to see you there.

There'll be more dates announced soon. You can sign-up to the waitlist where you'll be notified when new courses are announced.

What people have said about Alex's courses

"Alex has done a fantastic job at putting across all the relevant (evidence based) information that a clinician needs when dealing with heel pain.

None of us have all the answers all of the time, but I feel like I have a much better grasp of dealing with this sometimes challenging condition.

I shall be making sure the rest of the team also purchases the course (which is amazing value!). Thanks for putting the it together."

Samantha Shelton

Clinic Owner

"Super informative with lots of useful content, presented in a detailed and practical manner, all very applicable to clinical practice. Looking forward to rewatching and checking out all the resources to unpack it all!"
